So the big game is just a day away! Are you still looking for an awesome idea to make your football food spread a little fantastic? Well, check this out! It’s a DIY goal post and this thing is like 7′ tall!!
And excuse the pics, but I did have to put this together in the living room and there may or may not be a sombrero taking selfies in the background…
But seriously, this was such an easy project to do and, despite the size of it, it took less than 30 min to put it all together!
1 x 4′ section of pipe
2 x 2.5′ sections of pipe
6 x 2′ sections of pipe
2 x 90° elbow joints
2 x all hub sanitary tee
2 x pvc tee
It’s really easy to put this together…kind of like grown up Legos! I figured out my measurements and headed to Home Depot. To get the pieces that I needed, I started with 2 x 10′ sections of pipe and had them cut down to the measurements that I required. I did end up having to buy an additional pre-cut piece; I should have made some of the pieces a little smaller but I’ll know for next time *face palm*
Let’s do it…
- Grab one tee joint and put in 2 of the 2′ pipe pieces, on either side. reinforce with electrical tape. This will keep the joint from rotating as you build up. Add a sanitary tee to each end and slide 2 x 2′ sections through for counterbalance.*
*I worked with 1.5″ wide pipes and got 2″ sanitary tees so that the pieces would simply slide through.
- Add the 4′ piece to the middle part of the tee joint, which will be the center of the post. Reinforce with electrical tape.
- Repeat steps for the bar part of the goal post: Insert 2 x 2′ pieces into the tee joint. Reinforce with electrical tape.
- Insert the 2.5′ sections into the ends of the 90° elbow joints. Add the bar to the bottom section of the goal post.
And it’s as simple as that! This is super easy to assemble and the majority of time is spent in reinforcing the sections with tape!
Embellish as you wish and use it to make the perfect backdrop for your football themed snack table 🙂
Who are you cheering for on Sunday and every other football game? My team didn’t make it to the big show, but they’ve still got a loyal fan over here!
