The Big Game on Sunday is one of the big events that we look forward to every year. Hubby grew up playing football and is a hardcore football + sports fan. He just happens to be rebelling against his home team this year because he doesn’t like the coach, but then again men can be super weird about sports… *shrugs* And while he may be mad at the coach, he was all smiles about this little snack that we’ve prepared for our festivities this year! Check ’em out…
Head to Head Helmet Poppers!
You know how bell peppers have the little bumps on the bottom? I thought they would make the
cutest sportiest little appetizers for any football party! Pairing them with RITZ® crackers even makes them interactive! Got a particular play that your favorite team should be using on the offense? Shuffle them around and give them some good plays! You can definitely score with your biggest fans with this recipe 🙂
Head to Head Helmet Poppers
- 10 oz tuna
- RITZ® crackers
- 3/4 cup mayo (I picked one with olive oil and cracked pepper – delish!)
- 1/3 cup sweet relish
- diced red and green peppers
- salt and pepper to taste
*prep work* cut tops and bottoms off bell peppers; dice the remaining centers of the peppers and put aside
- Drain tuna well and put into bowl.
- Add mayo, sweet relish, diced peppers, salt and pepper to tuna. Stir well.
- Cover mixture and set in the fridge to chill.
While the tuna fish is chilling, cut the tops and bottoms of the peppers into segments.
Cut out the seeds and trim to look like mini helmets. Scoop tuna fish into the helmet, turn upright and place onto the RITZ® cracker. Add more tuna, as necessary, to stand the helmets upright.
Of course you’re going to need to wash it all down with something quite tasty! We have a Walmart about 2 miles from our house, so it’s super convenient for running into quickly to pick up all of the stuff we needed for the Big Game. In addition to grabbing the RITZ® crackers (and all of the ingredients) to make our appetizers, I snagged a 6 pack of Coca-Cola. As soon as I walked into the store, they were ready for me to take it to the house! Here’s a great deal: Snag a 6-pack of 1/2 liter bottles up until game day…2 for $5!
I had to be sure to include the Coca-Cola bottles in the party, so they are tasked with refereeing the big game and making sure these snack-thletes don’t get out of hand! It’s a quick and easy project to make these referee cozies 🙂
Since snacks aren’t the only thing you need to make the it a memorable event with family and friends, make sure you check out some additionally amazing Big Game + football party ideas with Coca-Cola and RITZ® at SnacksandSips.net.
