I missed yesterday’s post because I was busy working on an event for a non-profit that is near and dear to my heart.
My sincerest apologies for that 🙁
Today’s prompt is this:
What is the one place you need to see to feel like your life is complete?
I’ve been so blessed to be able to travel the world and see many places and things that many people may never get to enjoy. Being a Navy brat has allowed me to live on 2 different islands and make friends all over the continental US, as well as, the world. As a graduate student, I basked in the culture of China and was briefly educated there. With my other half, we traveled and enjoyed adventures in NM,Vegas, the Bahamas, Jamaica and Mexico. Together we’ve planned to have more adventures in Europe, Africa, Australia and South America. Any place on or near a beach is there by default and singing lemurs in Madagascar are on my bucket list!
We have a map very similar to this one with mauve pins for places we’ve been and white pins for the places we have yet to go. There are a lot of pins on that board!
If I have to pick one place, I think it would be Africa. Back to the cradle of civilization. And when I say Africa, I’d get to visit the ruins of Timbuktu, the majestic pyramids in Giza, the sprawling plains of Kenya, the stunning beauty of Morocco, the enchantment of South Africa and of course those funky time lemurs in Madagascar.
For reasons I care not to explore or explain, I will likely never get to see these places and it breaks my heart. When I was young adult, I failed to take advantage of the opportunity to travel. I had the money and the time, but was content to just sit on the couch. I did take one vacation to Bocas del Toro, Panama with my mom and she’s still talking about that trip!

But it reminds me that life is short. We have to take the time to enjoy beauty wherever we may find it, be it from home or abroad. We have a plaque in our home which says “Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away.” It’s surrounded by photos of the memories that my husband and I have made traveling stateside and abroad.
And to be completely sappy, I feel so much joy when he’s by my side, loving and living life. Seeing the world with him makes my life complete…
