So, it’s the 9th day of the #NaBloPoMo15 challenge. I was a little frantic about writing over the weekend because I had a ladies retreat with church and my hubby’s surprise party to orchestrate. I’m very thankful for the weekend hiatus but am glad to be back 🙂
Today’s prompt is as follows:
What is the first thing you do every single day (I mean, after you hit the snooze button)? When did that step in your routine begin?
I wake up every day talking to the most important man in my life: God.
This is a painting I made and hung up in our home. I’m a devout Christian. It reminds me that no matter what I’m going through and who I encounter, at all times I should show Christ.
I’ve been a Christian for a little over 4 years, so the habit of praying every day is something that took some time to cultivate and something on which I’m still working. But once I wake up my brain, I’m talking to Him. Thanking Him for the mercy He grants and the grace I surely don’t deserve.
I suppose I only really started being serious about this about 2 years ago. I haven’t always been intentional about my prayers either, but I’m learning to do that as well. I understand what Ghandi meant by “Be the change you want to see in the world.” I pray a lot but I know that the only way that things will really change around me is if I put my faith and prayers into action. James 2:14-17 reminds us that we can have all of the faith in the world, but if we don’t put that faith into action, everything around me will be the same.
- While I pray for a more friendly community, I smile at strangers. I especially make sure to tell ladies how hot their shoes are 🙂
- While I pray for more income, I work intentionally on building my business through blogging, making cookie samples and on being a diligent steward of the finances we do have.
- While I pray for patience and forgiveness, I work on being patient and temperate and on forgiving others when it would be so easy and convenient for me to express my anger and disappointment.
There are many things that I pray for and about and that list could go on for days. What matters most to me is that I’m consistent with this daily task. So every single day, I start with the most important conversation of the day. And I’m striving to be more intentional about it 🙂
